Cambodian New Year Festival 2009 - Year of The Ox 2553 B.E.

This year, the Cambodian community of Santa Clara County, in collaboration with the San Jose Cambodian Buddhist Society, the Santa Clara Cambodian Women Association, the Cambodian American Resource Agency and active community members, will be celebrating the coming “Year of The Ox 2553 B.E."


The morning program, Cultural Ceremony, will be celebrated at the San Jose Cambodian Buddhist Society, Inc. (Wat Khmer San Jose). The evening program will be at the Napradak Hall, 770 Montague Expy, San Jose, 95131 and feature as below. $20/per person for evening program starting at 4:30pm at the door

  • Cambodian Language School Program
  • Keynote Speakers - Mr. Kelvin So, active community member
  • Featured Guest Speakers
  • Classical Skit/Fashion Show
  • Khmer Classcial & Folk Dances (performed by Cambodian Dance Troupe of San Jose)
  • Polynesian Dances (performed by Cambodian Dance Troupe of San Jose)
  • Social Dance Featuring Mr. Khiev Sampeth, Ms. Molina with Starland Band

The Khmer Singing Contest

The 2009 Khmer New Year Committee proudly presents
To be held on April 11, 2009 concurrently with the Cambodian New Year Celebration!


The Annual Cambodian New Year Celebration is the perfect occasion to showcase your talent to your friends, family and community.

The deadline is fast approaching and we will be selecting the finalists soon.

To participate in the singing contest, interested contestants must submit a registration form and be available to audition before the show. If you are unable to download the forms, please contact us directly to give us your information via the telephone.
After each contestant’s performance, a panel of judges will evaluate based on vocal ability, stage presence/confidence, and other musical factors. Public/Audience participation is also encouraged.
The first place winner will be awarded with the GRAND PRIZE  (Cash and other monetary value), be featured on Caraweb.org and other community websites, and an invitation to perform live during the social dance with our featured entertainers; Molyna and Samphet Khiev, accompanied by Starland Band.
